One of the terrorists was killed during cross-firing early in the morning at the Srigufwara area of Anantnag, and officials said that 2-3 terrorists were holed up in the area.

This comes one day after 3 terrorists were killed in an encounter with Indian armed personnel in Sopore in Baramulla district. Usman, a Lashkar-e-Taiba's (LeT's) terrorist was among those killed in the encounter in Reban. Incriminating materials including arms and ammunition were recovered from the encounter area.

"He was involved in a recent terror attack at Sopore in which one CRPF jawan was martyred and a civilian was also killed. Big success for police and security forces," Vijay Kumar, Kashmir's inspector general of police, said.

Meanwhile, police personnel and security personnel jointly arrested 4 associates of terrorists during two separate search operations at Chandargeer and Sadhunara in Bandipora district.

13 Rashtriya Rifles and 45th Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force assisted the Bandipora police and the operation resulted in the nabbing of a terrorist associate, identified as Shafat Ahmad Dar, during a search operation in Chandargeer. Incriminating materials including a live grenade were recovered from his possession.

In another operation based on secret intelligence, three more terrorist associates -- identified as Mudasir Ahmad Khawaja, Abdul Qayoom Margo, and Ishfaq Ahmad Dar -- all residents of Sadhunara, were nabbed by the security forces. Two live grenades, an AK magazine, 25 live rounds of an AK-47 rifle and a UBGL were recovered from their possession. They have been accused of providing logistic support and shelter to terrorists of the feared terror organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). A case has been registered at the Hajin police station.

According to officials, around 134 terrorists have been killed in Kashmir so far this year with 48 of them in June alone. The majority of these militants have been encountered in south Kashmir.
