NEW DELHI:According to data from the Union health ministry, India on Saturday witnessed an increase in new Covid-19 infections of 782, but the number of active cases decreased to 8,675.

With the addition of the additional instances, the country's Covid-19 total increased to 4.49 crore (4,49,85,705), according to news reports. The report showed that six deaths, including three that Kerala reconciled, brought the death toll to 5,31,824.

According to the health ministry website, the national recovery rate is 98.80%, and the number of active cases is currently 0.02 percent of all infections.

4,44,45,206 persons have recovered from the illness, a significant increase. The percentage of case fatalities was 1.18 percent.

On the ministry's website, it is said that the nationwide vaccination campaign has so far provided 220.66 crore doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.

81 new coronavirus cases and one infection-related fatality were reported in Maharashtra on Friday, bringing the total to 81,68,737 and the death toll to 1,48,549.

The state presently has 558 active cases, according to the state health department's report, with 119 people recovering in the previous day, bringing the total number of recoveries to 80,19,669.

The total number of tests performed in the state increased to 8,71,24,834 after 6,689 more swab samples were tested during the day.

Mumbai circle recorded the most new cases—55—according to the report, followed by Pune with nine, Kolhapur with eight, Nagpur with four, Nashik circle with three, and Akola circle with two.

Kolhapur circle was where the day's lone fatality was reported, it said.

Since January, 119 Covid-19 deaths have been reported by the state, and 74.79% of them included people over the age of 60.

The report also noted that Maharashtra saw 520 new cases between May 13 and May 19, down from 1,032 instances the week before.

Mumbai contributed 29 infections to the cases reported throughout the day, bringing the total number of cases in the city to 11,62,704, including 19,771 fatalities.

A total of 4.49 crore (4.49,84,923) was tallied for the Covid case. The national COVID-19 recovery rate has been recorded at 98.79%, the ministry reported, and the active cases currently make up 0.02 percent of all infections.
