8 die, 5,000 fell sick after a gas leak from chemical plant in Andhra

Amid corona scare, at least 8 people died and around five thousand fell sick after a poisonous gas leak from a chemical plant in Vishakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. As per reports, the incident happened last night at the LG Polymer plant at Gopalapatnam on the outskirts of Visakhapatnam. Police said that hundreds of unconscious people and those with breathing difficulties were brought to the King George Hospital in the city. Children and elderly were most affected, health officials informed. An official at KGH said that the death toll is likely to go up. Already high officials from the district administration reached the spot. The cause of the leak is yet to be ascertained.
