Chennai: A 21-year-old youth hailing from Tamil Nadu has taken up arms and has sided with the Ukrainian forces and is part of the Georgian National Legion Paramilitary unit. His decision to resort to arms comes in the backdrop of his rejection by the Indian Army not once, but twice.

As per reports, the aerospace engineering student is said to be locking horns against the Russian forces and it comes at a time when the conflict is escalating with every passing day and is at its peak.

The youth has been identified as Sainikhesh Ravichandran and he hails from Subramaniyampalayam in Coimbatore. According to a report, he has joined the ranks of a paramilitary unit that comprises volunteers fighting for Ukraine.

The report also said that this had been confirmed by Intelligence sleuths who had met with the boy's parents in Coimbatore just a few days back.

This report also shed some light on the family background of Sainikhesh and decoded the reason behind his decision to join the battlefield. A police officer, who was part of the team, told the media that his room was filled with pictures of soldiers.

His family has said that Sainikhesh had completed his schooling at Vidya Vikasini Matriculation Institute.

Reportedly, the boy was very keen on joining the Indian Army so much so that he had made an attempt to join it after class 12, but only to face rejection owing to his height.

Disappointed by the rejection, he had then tried to find out if he could join the US army but was reportedly told that he could not.

Sainikhesh enrolled himself at the National Aerospace University in Kharkiv back in September 2018. The duration of his course is for a period of 5 years which means that the course will end in July 2023.

His family members are very worried about his safety and had told him to return home but he refused to do so.

Sainikhesh's family comprises of his father Ravichandran, his mother Jhansi Lakshmi along his younger brother Sairohit.

The family has reportedly urged the officials in the state and Union governments to bring their son back home.
