NEW DELHI: On Thursday 28 April, a gas leak was reported from a Kathha manufacturing factory in the Jhajjar district of Haryana and this raised concerns among the people residing in the area.
The leakage of the poisonous gas from the factory has resulted in various health issues among the locals who complained about vomiting as well as difficulty in breathing.
Fire brigade authorities immediately reached the spot after the matter came to light and they brought the situation under control.
Meanwhile, the ammonia gas leak has triggered a panic situation among the people living close to the factory. Locals were spotted using masks and other clothes to cover their faces and to save themselves from the poisonous gas.
However, the officials of the fire department have evacuated the factory from which ammonia was reportedly released on Thursday during evening hours.
Notably, apart from the local people many factory workers also reported feeling uneasy and faced breathing issues soon after the gas leakage.
On receiving the information, three to four ambulances immediately called to the incident spot to take several factory workers and other locals and shift them to a local hospital, informed Jhajjar DC Jag Niwas.
According to reports, the workers and locals were later admitted to the hospital for providing proper medical care and attention at the earliest.
However, due to the massive gas leakage in Jhajjar, no loss of life or serious casualties has been reported as of now.
Concerned officials informed that the reason for what led to the gas leakage from the factory is not yet known. An investigation has been started to find out the exact cause of gas leakage.
Locals have been successfully evacuated from the places located close to the factory and it has been emptied to prevent further effects on people's health due to the gas leakage.
