Mumbai: After the arrest of Republic TV chief Arnab Goswami, Anvay Naiks's family thanked the Maharashtra Police authorities for finally taking some action against Goswami and the other two named by Naik in his suicide note of 2018.
Two years ago, interior designer Anvay Naik had ended his life in his Alibag bungalow and left a note alleging that editor-in-chief of Republic TV Arnab Goswami, Feroz Shaikh of IcastX/Skimedia and Neetish Sarda of Smartworks owed the interior designer ₹5.40 crore for his work. Goswami refused to pay ₹83 lakh to him and also threatened his family.
Anvay Naik had ended his life in June, 2018. Naik's mother was also found dead on the bed on the ground floor of the bungalow on the same day.
A case was filed but no action was taken and the wife and daughter of Naik said at the press conference organised after Goswami's arrest earlier in the day today that there was enough pressure to close the case. The case almost closed until Naik's daughter Adnya met the DIG and produced more evidence.
The suicide note read that other than Goswami, Shaikh owed Naik ₹4 crore for his undertaking at Andheri and Sarda owed him ₹55 lakh for his undertakings at Magarpatta and Baner.
