Assam Army jawan martyred in Pak shelling

Srinagar: A brave Army jawan from Assam has been killed in a major flare-up along the Line of Control (LOC) in ceasefire violations by the Pakistani troops in Jammu and Kashmir. The army jawan from Assam is identified as Hardhan Chandra Roy, who was from Phutukibari-Medhipara under Sapatgram police station in lower Assam's Dhubri district.

Along with Roy, two more army jawans, a BSF sub-inspector, and three civilians lost their lives. The incident took place on Friday in various parts of Uri, Keran sector of Kupwara district and Izmarg in Gurez sector of Bandipora district in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Indian side strongly retaliated too. Army sources said that there were casualties on the Pakistani side as well. Around 6-7 soldiers from Pakistan were killed, and 10-12 were injured, the sources said.

The Pakistani forces used weapons like mortars. However, a number of Pakistani army bunkers, fuel dumps and launchpads were also destroyed and set on fire by the Indian forces.
