New Delhi: A 32-year-old woman has accused Sahitya Akademi Award-winning author Nilotpal Mrinal of raping her, following which he got booked by the Delhi Police.

As per officials, the woman who happens to be a UPSC aspirant filed an FIR against the award-winning author and she accused Nilotpal of raping her for 10 years under the pretext of a marriage in her complaint. 

 A senior police officer who was speaking about the case on May 8 said that an investigation was underway and no arrests were made yet.

The Delhi Police has gone on to say that the rape case was registered in the Timarpur Police Station area.

FIR, filed on the basis of a woman's complaint, states that author Nilotpal Mrinal raped her for 10 years under the pretext of marriage," the police statement, as cited by the media, said.

 According to the complaint, the woman met the accused in 2013 and subsequently developed a friendship over the years.

An FIR was lodged on April 6 based on the complaint. The FIR was registered against the author in north Delhi under IPC sections dealing with rape and causing hurt.

In the complaint, the woman also accused Nilotpal of allegedly hurling abuses at her and assaulting her following her eye surgery.

"I started crying...He then forced himself upon me... I cried but he raped me and left. The next day, he came and started apologising. He also promised to marry me...," the FIR read.

Meanwhile, the FIR also states that a police officer called up the woman's father to tell him that his daughter is allegedly blackmailing Nilotpal in order to extort money from him.

Further investigation into the matter is underway.
