Bengal Shocker: Mob Forces Minor to get Sindoor Applied on her Head by her Dead Boyfriend's Hand

Kolkata: A mob forced a minor girl to have 'sindoor' smeared on her hair from the hand of her deceased boyfriend, who was also a minor and died of suicide.

The shocking incident happened in Bardhaman, West Bengal.

As per the sources, the young couple, belonging to different communities, wanted to get married. The girl's mother objected owing to their age, which led to a dispute between the boy and the girl. The boy took his own life at Kantapukur in Bardhaman, sources said.

Local police reached the spot and sent the body for postmortem after receiving the information. As the body was returned, his relatives and neighbours stormed the girl's house. They alleged that she knew beforehand about his intention to die and did nothing to save him. They also claimed that the boy had sent her a picture of himself before dying.

According to the reports, the mob physically assaulted the girl and her mother as well. They further alleged that she had the boy's mother's number and decided not to inform her about the extreme step being taken by her son.

The group then dragged the girl and forcefully applied sindoor (vermilion) on her head with the dead boy's hand.

The local police said that they have started an investigation into the matter.

"The girl's mother has filed a complaint at the nearest women police station about the physical assault that her minor daughter had to face," the local police added.
