Patna: Protestors protesting against Central government's 'Agneepath Scheme' on Thursday set the Gorakhpur-Patliputra Express train on fire at Sidhavaliya railway station.

As per reports, three trains were set on fire, including one in Bihar's Chapra district.

Following the incident, there was chaos at the railway station and the passengers on the train somehow escaped and saved their lives. Simultaneously, along with a large number of police forces, including Sadar SDPO, and SDM, a firefighting team reached the spot and tried to control the situation.

Notably, there is an atmosphere of panic at the railway station after the train was set on fire.

After this incident on the Thawe-Chhapra railway section, Railway Police issued a high alert, increasing the security of the entire railway station and trains. However, there is no report of any casualty in this accident.

Reportedly, the Gorakhpur-Patliputra Express train was heading towards Patna from Gorakhpur. As soon as the agitators reached Sidhavaliya railway station, the agitators took control of the train.

Reports also claimed that these protestors assaulted passengers and later the train was set on fire.

Meanwhile, Gopalganj DM Dr. Naval Kishore Chaudhary and SP Anand Kumar have reached the spot.

The newly launched Agnipath scheme introduced by the center was not received with open arms by some youths in Bihar and they have expressed their disapproval and have fiercely opposed the scheme.

Massive protests against the Agnipath scheme erupted across Bihar with thousands of youth taking to the streets to voice their anger.

The agitators, who are demanding the repeal of the scheme and the resumption of recruitment under normal process, also blocked the Patna-Gaya road route.
