NEW DELHI: In a bizarre incident, a car was driven with a man clinging to the vehicle's bonnet for two to three kilometres in Delhi from Ashram Chowk to Nizamuddin Dargah on Sunday. The car reportedly belonged to Lok Sabha MP from Bihar, Chandan Singh, and his driver behind the wheel when the incident happened, police said.

The victim, identified as Chetan, later said he is employed as a driver and was on his way back after dropping a passenger. He alleged that the offending car's driver nicked his vehicle, following which he got down and stood in front of the car to berate the driver.

At that point the driver started driving the car. Chetan hung on to the bonnet as the driver, later identified as Ramchand Kumar, kept driving from Ashram Chowk to Nizamuddin. “I kept asking him to stop, but he did not stop. The person was totally drunk. On the way, I saw a PCR standing, they followed us until he stopped the car," Chetan was reported as saying.

However, the MP’s driver Ramchand denied that his car ever touched Chetan's vehicle and said Chetan had deliberately jumped on the bonnet of his car.

"My car did not even touch his car, I was driving when he deliberately jumped on the bonnet of my car. I asked him to get down but he did not listen. I then stopped my car and asked him what he was doing," said Ramchand.

A case of rash and negligent driving has been registered by the police against the accused.

The incident reportedly took place just a few kilometres away from Sultanpuri, where a young woman riding a two-wheeler was hit by a car and dragged to death on January 1.

In the incident which shook the nation, a 23-year-old woman, who was on her way home, was dragged by a car for around four kilometres from Sultanpuri to Kanjhawala in Delhi after the scooter she was riding collided with the vehicle on the night of January 1. She was grievously injured and died as a result.
