New Delhi: Farooq Ahmed Dar --Popularly known as Bitta Karate -- will face trial after 31 years for the murder of Satish Tickoo, who is Karate's close friend.

The family of Tickoo has moved to Srinagar Sessions Court with the help of advocate Utsav Bains supported by activist Vikas Raina.

The court has asked the family of the petitioner victim Satish Tickoo to file a hard copy of the petition. In addition to this, the court has also asked Bitta Karate's lawyer to file a hard copy proposal.

The matter will be heard again on April 16.

Bitta who has been heading the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (KJLF) for years, hit the headlines after the movie 'Kashmir Files' which highlighted his role in the killings of Kashmiri Pandits. He had admitted that he killed 30 to 40 Kashmiri Pandits in 1990.

Bitta was imprisoned for killing innocent Kashmiri people but he is currently out on bail.

In 1991, he admitted in an interview that he had killed 30 to 40 Kashmiri Pandits following which he was then arrested under the Public Safety Act. He was in jail for 16 years after the court released him on bail.

He was again arrested by the NIA in 2019 on charges of terror funding under the anti-terror laws after the Pulwama attack.
