BJP leader in West Bengal thrashed on visit to poll booth; holds TMC ‘goons’ responsible

In a recent case of assault on politician, a senior BJP leader Jay Prakash Majumdar who is also the party candidate from Karimpur Assembly was allegedly beaten by TMC activities outside a polling booth in Phipulkhola area of Nadia district when he was visiting the booth. A footage of the incident which has surfaced showed the leader being kicked by people.

the BJP leader alleged that activists of TMC were behind the assault. He stated that the assaulters were false voters who assembled in that particular area with the intention to committing electoral frauds. Denying the allegations put out to them and calling them baseless, the TMC Nadia district stated that it was the local people who assaulted the BJP leader and were angry at them for vitiating the polling atmosphere. the Election Commission has sought a detailed report into the incident.

By-polls are underway across different places in West Bengal in Kharagpur Sadar and Kaliaganj Assembly in addition to Karimpur assembly. While Kharagpur Sadar and Karimpur seats are conquered by the TMC, the Kaliaganj seats are represented by the Congress party.

The three Assembly seats witnessed arounf 30.17 percent of more than seven lakh electorate who exercised their franchise in the by-polls.
