New Delhi: A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader was shot dead on Wednesday evening in east Delhi's Mayur Vihar.

The man identified as Jitu Choudhary, 42-year-old, was a resident of Mayur Vihar's phase 3.

According to reports, Choudhary was in conversation with a few people outside his residence on Wednesday, when two bike-born miscreants fire four rounds on him.

Choudhary received bullets in his head, abdomen, and adjoining areas.

He was immediately rushed to Noida's metro hospital, where he was declared dead during the treatment.

Police have recovered a few cartridges from the spot.

Meanwhile, police are scanning CCTV footage and looking for eyewitnesses.
