BHOPAL: A 19-year-old girl from Shahdol in Madhya Pradesh was recently abducted and kept captive for two days in a farmhouse and was gang-raped by four people, she was later dumped in front of her house, said reports.

Following the incident, an FIR was registered by the victim's family after which four persons were identified and booked. Among them was a local BJP leader who was later thrown out of the party's prime membership.

Reportedly, the victim's family alleged that she was abducted by the four accused namely Jaitpur BJP chief Vijay Tripathi and his three accomplices - Rajesh Shukla, Munna Singh and Monu Maharaj who abducted her in a car and kept her in captive at a farmhouse in Gadaghat area, around 500 kilometres away from the state capital Bhopal on February 18.

Police officials further quoted that the girl was forcefully given liquor and was gang-raped for two days by the four accused before dumping her near her house on February 21.

The victim was found unconscious and was immediately rushed to the hospital. Upon gaining consciousness she along with her family filed an FIR wherein the BJP chief Vijay Tripathi was mentioned as the main accused along with his accomplices.

A case has been registered by the Shahdol Police against the BJP leader and the three other accused. So far, no arrests have been made as the accused are absconding. Police suspected that the four have fled in the same car that has been used to kidnap the victim.

Meanwhile, as the news spread out, the BJP taking heed of the matter issued a statement condemning the incident and released the same on social media, saying Vijay Tripathi has been expelled from the party's prime membership with immediate effect. The statement was issued by BJP District President Kamal Pratap Singh.
