BSF Nabs Pakistani National Who Infiltrated Into India To Kill Nupur Sharma

New Delhi: Border Security Force (BSF) has nabbed a Pakistani national from Rajasthan's Sri Ganga Nagar district, who allegedly crossed the border and entered India, to kill suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma.

Presently, the Pakistani national is being interrogated by a joint team of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and other intelligence agencies.

A senior BSF officer informed that the security forces captured the man on July 16 at around 11 pm near the Hindumalkot border outpost after the patrolling team found the man in a suspicious condition.

The BSF official also said that they have found an 11-inch long knife, religious books, clothes, food and sand in the bag from his possession and added that the captive has identified himself as Rizwan Ashraf, a native of Mandi Bahauddin city located in Northern Punjab of Pakistan.

He further said that during the preliminary investigation, Rizwan disclosed about his plot to stealthily sneak through the India-Pakistani border to kill Nupur Sharma over her derogatory remarks on Prophet Mohammed.

''He (Rizwan) also revealed that he had planned to pay a visit to the Ajmer Dargah first before executing his plan,'' the BSF officer added.

"We have handed him over to local police for further investigation. He was produced before a magistrate from where he was sent to eight days of police custody. We have informed the concerned intelligence agencies about him," the BSF officer informed.

Notably, now-suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma's remarks on Prophet Mohammad had triggered widespread protests across the country and also drew strong condemnation from some Gulf countries.
