NEW DELHI: Home minister Amit Shah reiterated that CAA will not be withdrawn under any circumstances. He was speaking at a rally in Lucknow.

"I have introduced CAA in the Lok Sabha. I want to tell the opposition that you should discuss this bill publicly," he said during the rally.

Shah said the Act will not take away anybody's citizenship instead it is to ensure that the persecuted living in the country can live with dignity.

Shah also took a dig at JNU which was linked with "Tukde-tukde gang" and said that those raising anti-national slogans will be in jail.

Shah had blamed the opposition for fomenting trouble on the issue of CAA.

CAA aims to protect religiously persecuted Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Christians from Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan by giving them Indian Citizenship. The cut-off date for those to be given citizenship in India has been fixed at, on or before 31st December 2014.

Anti-CAA agitations around the country had caused clashes between police and students. The protests had left several dead and many injured.
