Patna: Some students of Class 12 who were appearing for their exam had to write their papers under the headlight of vehicles in an embarrassing incident that occurred in the state of Bihar.
A case of mismanagement was reported on the evening of 1 February in Motihari town in East Champaran district of Bihar. The mismanagement led to the students being compelled to write their papers of Hindi using the lights of vehicles.
It is to be noted that this day also happened to be the first day of the examinations for students of Class 12 in Bihar.
This unfortunate incident occurred in Maharaja Harendra Kishore Singh College, where over 400 students were made to write their Hindi papers in the second sitting examination under the vehicle lights.
The examination for the second sitting was scheduled to take place from 1:45 pm to 5 pm on 1 February.
The examination was delayed till 4 pm as the seating arrangements of students was not made properly in advance. The students and their parents got outraged as a result of the lack of preparedness and they shouted slogans against the college and district administration.
The situation was then brought under control by Saurabh Suman Yadav, the SDO of Motihari (Sadar) and DSP Arun Kumar Yadav, who reached the examination following the incident.
Saurabh Suman Yadav said that they managed to convince the enraged students and parents to refrain from boycotting the examinations. The exams finally started at 4 pm and continued till 7 pm.
A generator was arranged by the administration as there was no electricity supply in the college but it failed to cater to all the places. As a result, parents who came on their four-wheelers had no other option but to switch on the headlights of their vehicle in order to complete the examination.
S. Kapil Ashok, the district magistrate of East Champaran said that they have constituted a team headed by a district education officer to investigate the matter. He also added that the centre superintendent has been suspended.
