Conspiracy to finish farmer politics in UP: RLD leader Jayant Chaudhary

MUZAFFARNAGAR:Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) leader Jayant Chaudhary has said that the lathicharge on his party's leaders in Hathras was a 'conspiracy' to finish farmer politics in Uttar Pradesh. Addressing the 'LoktantraBachao' rally — organized in protest against police action on Chaudhary and other leaders — the RLD and other leaders mounted a blistering attack on the Yogi Adityanath government.

Imran Masood of the Congress said that a similar attack had been made on the party's leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

"There is a well-planned move to target opposition leaders — whether they are from the Congress or the RLD — because the opposition is raising the issue of 'black laws' like the recent farmer laws," said Masood.

Haryana MLA AbhayChautala alleged that atrocities were being heaped on farmers across the country. Congress MP DipendraHooda said that the UP police had no valid reason for using force on JayantChaudhary. "Political leaders are being targeted but criminals are roaming free in UP," he said.

The rally was supported by the Samajwadi Party, BharatiyaKisan Union, Congress, Shiv Sena and KhapPanchayats. (IANS)
