BENGALURU: Contractor Santosh Patil who accused Karnataka BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) Minister KS Eshwarappa of corruption was found dead on Monday at late hours.
His body was recovered by police officials from a lodge in the Udupi city of Karnataka on Monday 11 April.
According to reports, the contractor died by suicide and wrote a suicide note blaming the BJP minister for his death.
Patil before committing suicide sent a WhatsApp message to his close friends in which he informed about his intention of taking such an extreme step.
He stated the reason to end his life by saying that Eshwarappa is responsible for his death and he must get punished. The note further reads 'I've suppressed all my desires and doing this.'
In the suicide message, Patil urged the Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai, former Chief Minister of Karnataka Yediyurappa and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take care of his family.
Meanwhile, police are trying to verify the authenticity of the suicide message with the help of the forensic department.
On speaking over the matter, the Karnataka CM Bommai said that a thorough investigation will be done for in-depth details of the contractor's death.
The chief minister further made it clear that there will be no interference from the government in the suicide case of contractor Santosh Patil.
Bommai said that police and the forensic department reached the incident scene soon after getting informed and also started investigating.
The preliminary investigation is already done and actions will be taken after the reports are submitted added the CM.
He said that the background of Patil's death will be investigated completely and from the government's side there will be no interference.
It may be mentioned that just a few days ago Patil wrote a letter to PM Modi where he stated that KS Eshwarappa has not paid the outstanding bills due to him.
He made accusations of lies and irregularities against the minister and stated that he is involved in corruption activities. Patil requested the prime minister to direct the accused minister to clear his bills.
However, KS Eshwarappa who is the Minister of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj of Karnataka has totally denied the allegations made by Patil against him.
Later, he filed a defamation case against the contractor for targeting his reputation and making baseless allegations against him.
