NEW DELHI: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal informed that he has been tested covid positive. The chief minister shared the news through his Twitter handle.
In his tweet, the CM wrote that he is suffering from mild symptoms and is currently under home isolation. He further requested that people who came in contact with him in recent days must isolate themselves and get tested for COVID-19.
A day before being tested positive, the chief minister was in Dehradun and before visiting Dehradun he had attended huge rallies in Patiala and Amritsar in view of campaigning for UP polls.
Since the last two weeks, there is an increase in the covid cases in the national capital along with the emergence of a new covid variant Omicron. The state has reported a total of 382 cases of Omicron cases.
On Monday 3 January a total of 4,099 positive cases were reported in Delhi which has risen from 3,194 cases on the previous day tally i.e. on Sunday. As per the given reports, there is a 28 percent covid surge within the time period of 24 hours. Delhi has also reported one death case due to covid on Monday raising the death toll to 25,100.
On Sunday 2 January the percentage of covid positive cases was 4.59 percent and as per the latest positivity rate, the cases have been increased to 6.46 percent. According to this the cumulative case tally of the national capital is reported as 14,58,220.
In view of the spread of deadly infection and increase in positivity rate, the DDMA (Delhi Disaster Management Authority has assembled a meeting today on 4 January to discuss such a high jump of covid cases in one single day and also about the exceeding 6 percent positivity rate.
As the present situation of Delhi is getting tense in the wake of COVID-19, it is expected that new restrictions will be imposed in various sectors of the state to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
