New Delhi: The Delhi police have arrested a man for allegedly raping a 7-year-old minor girl in the Ranjit Nagar area in Delhi.
According to police sources, the man used to be a neighbour of the little girl's family. The girl was approached by the accused when she was playing with other children who took her to an empty room on the pretext of giving her Rs 10 and buying her sweets.
CCTV footage has shown the girl following the accused to an empty room, police reports said. The police have filed a case against the accused.
However, the police were unable to take any action in the first 24-hours as they had no information or clue on the identity or location of the accused.
The police team investigating the case, headed by Additional Joint Commissioner of Police Suman Goyal, was finally able to solve the case by thoroughly checking the CCTV footage. The joint efforts of the North District and Crime Branch in the investigation finally showed results.
The police conducted a door-to-door enquiry to find the suspect and were finally able to identify the suspect. The accused was traced and arrested by the police in a late-night operation.
