'Destination Northeast 2020' kicks off today, Home Min Amit Shah inaugurates event

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the 4-day 'Destination Northeast 2020' event today. The inauguration took place via video conference and Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region Jitendra Singh was the Guest of Honour.

The event organized by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region annually to showcase the region's potentials like eco-tourism, culture, heritage and business.

The main objective of the event is to celebrate the uniqueness of the Northeastern region in order to strengthen national integration.

This year the theme of the event is 'The Emerging Delightful Destinations'. As the event has kick-started on the day of World Tourism Day, the attempt of this event will be to bring focus to the emerging tourist destinations in the region.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad also took to his Twitter to share a video that showcased the mesmerizing view of his state.

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister also shared pictures of the inaugural event through video conference.
