NEW DELHI: The
Director-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) would soon start Mandatory breath
analyzer test for all crew members, pilots, and other staff engaged in-flight
services.
Earlier when the second wave had hit the country, the Mandatory breath analyzer test was suspended temporarily.
The DGCA officials today informed that they are monitoring the situation and if there is no third wave then they would restart the Mandatory breath analyzer test.
In a recently held meeting chaired by Arun Kumar the chief of DGCA held a review meeting to discuss all the issues including mandatory breath analyzer test.
"We have asked the officer and the stakeholders to submit a detailed report on this." the DGCA official said adding that random tests instead of breath analyzer test are currently active in all the airports.
During the outbreak of Covid-19 the Air India Pilot Union and other airlines had written to the DGCA urging them to stop the breath analyzer as it may cause to further increase of the covid.
After they have written, the DGCA officials have said that they maximum of 5 percent of pilots and cabin crew members would undergo breath analyzer test daily.
This announcement comes after the Delhi High Court asks DGCA to issue guidelines to follow all the protocols for administering breath analyzer tests during the pandemic.
An Air India flight which was bound to London from Indira Gandhi Airport in Delhi has delayed its take-off by more than 3 hours after swarm of ants found in business class of the flight. Sources said that the flight AI-111 was supposed to take off at 2 PM but due to the issue it departed for London at around 5.30 PM. However, it was reported that Air India has changed the aircraft.
