KOLKATA: In a shocking incident in Kolkata, a hearing and speech impaired woman was allegedly raped by a cab driver inside his car.
The rape incident took place on Thursday 27 January during evening hours in the Pragati Maidan area of Kolkata.
According to reports the 26 years old woman is unable to speak and hear and is employed in a company in Anandapur located in east Kolkata. She is a resident of Mograhat which is in the Parganas district of West Bengal.
As per sources, the differently-abled woman was kidnapped by the cab driver from the Park Circus railway station in Kolkata. The driver then took her to the Pragati Maidan area and raped her.
The accused person has been identified as Kamre Alam alias Raja, a resident of Panchannagram, Kolkata. Police arrested the accused for committing the heinous crime.
The victim woman claimed that she knew the accused person from her work in the company in East Kolkata. Raja approached her outside the Park Circus railway station on Thursday evening and then he convinced her so that she follows him. On reaching a concealed and empty place, the accused cab driver pulled her into his vehicle by force and allegedly raped her.
She was then left near a Bypass connector from where she managed to reach the house of one of her friends. The victim shared all the information about the incident with her friend.
The duo went to the Pragati Maidan police station and filed a complaint against the cab driver. Police started a detailed inquiry over the incident.
After investigation, the police found that the vehicle where the woman was raped belonged to a man named Mohammad Nasim from Panchanangram. The car found by checking CCTV footage was registered with his name.
As per information police raided the house of Nasim and during the interrogation, they came to know that the son of Nasim, Kamre Alam alias Raja committed the crime.
30 years old Raja was detained from his residence on Thursday night and an FIR was registered against him under sections of kidnapping and rape case. On Friday, Raja was presented in front of the court and remanded in police custody
