Bengaluru: Police has arrested a man supplying brown sugar in the guise of 'prasad'. He was using private courier service and government bus drivers to pass the drugs around.

As per reports, the accused identified as Vikram Khileri used to transport the brown sugar across Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

The 25-year-old is a native of Rajasthan. He was apprehended with the help of a decoy who ordered two packets of brown sugar.

On Wednesday, Khileri had come to Patnoolpet near City Market, central Bengaluru, to deliver about 90 grams of sugar brown that he had concealed cannily in a helmet.

He had arrived in Bengaluru from Gujarat four years ago to work as a construction labourer. However, he started peddling drugs after meeting a peddler from Gujarat who was settled in Bengaluru. The peddler from Gujarat has been absconding following Khileri's arrest.

Police said that Khileri used a unique modus operandi to deliver the brown sugar.

He used to pack the drugs in envelopes and pass it off as 'Sai Baba Prasad'. The envelopes were later delivered to trusted customers through the private courier service and government bus drivers. Khileri catered to customers in Hubballi, Ballari, Hassan, Vijayapura and Coimbatore. Neither the courier firm nor the bus drivers were aware that they were delivering a banned drug which costs Rs 100 per packet.
