MUMBAI: Twenty gelatin explosives sticks were found in a Scorpio car in the vicinity of industrialist Mukesh Ambani's residence in Mumbai.
Meanwhile, an FIR has been registered in connection with the seizure of a vehicle with 20 explosive gelatin sticks.
According to reports, the vehicle with 20 gelatin sticks and a letter was parked on Carmichael Road near Antilia, however, the content of the letter was not made public.
Mumbai Police on its official Twitter handle wrote, "A suspicious vehicle was found on Carmichael Rd this evening under limits of Gamdevi Pstn. BDDS & other Police teams reached the spot immediately, examined & found some explosive material Gelatin inside. It's not an assembled explosive device. Further investigation is going on."
It is to be mentioned that the SUV make vehicle which was parked a few hundred meters from Antilia was spotted by Mukesh Ambani's security detail and the local police were informed.
Interestingly, Mumbai Police spokesperson DCP S Chatanya, said that the registration number of the vehicle matches with the registration number of a vehicle in Mukesh Ambani's security detail.
Notably, some number plates were also found inside the SUV found near Antilia.
The case has been registered under Indian Penal Code sections 286 (negligent conduct with respect to explosive substance), 465 (punishment for forgery), 473 (making or possessing counterfeit seal), 506(2) (criminal intimidation, if threat be to cause death or grievous hurt), and 120(B) (criminal conspiracy) and section 4 of the Explosive Substances Act, 1908.
Post the incident, heavy police presence was seen near Mukesh Ambani's Antilia. Further, police are currently scanning the CCTVs footages of the area by officials from the Crime Branch of Mumbai Police.
Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh had tweeted, "Twenty gelatin explosives sticks were found in a Scorpio van in the vicinity of industrialist Mukesh Ambani''s residence in Mumbai. The Mumbai Crime Branch police are investigating the matter and the findings will be out soon."
