BENGALURU: In the Dakshina Kannada region of Karnataka, a 32-year-old man passed away after his irate father allegedly struck him with a wooden club for arguing about not getting to try a chicken curry made at home, according to police.

The shocking incident occurred on Tuesday in Guttigar located in the district's Sullia taluk.

The victim has been identified as Shivaram, who was slain in a verbal altercation with his father Sheena over the right to eat homemade chicken curry. According to sources, Shivaram's father had already finished the chicken curry by the time he got home.

The man and his father got into an argument, and the father, in a fit of wrath, killed Shivaram by striking him with a wooden club. Police from Subrahmanya responded quickly and detained the suspect. The deceased had a wife and two children.

The victim had a reputation for picking fights while intoxicated.  After being taken to a hospital in a hurry, the victim was pronounced dead around 2:30 in the morning.

In a similar incident, a 30-year-old man killed his wife in 2021 because she hadn't made chicken curry for him. The man was upset because his wife didn't prepare the dish he requested a few days prior.

"I was disappointed to see there was no chicken fry when I got home. My wife responded arrogantly when I questioned her, so I punched her in the head with a wooden log out of wrath”, stated the accused.

Then, after midnight, he brought her body outside and dumped it into a lake after wrapping it in a gunny sack.

On Monday, a home theatre music system received as a wedding gift burst as soon as it was plugged in, killing the groom and his brother. The explosion also gravely injured four other people. According to the police investigation, the home theatre was rigged with explosives and was a gift from the bride's ex-boyfriend. The Kabirdham district of Chhattisgarh is where the tragedy happened.
