Mumbai: An FIR has been lodged against film actress Kangana Ranaut in Mumbai on Tuesday following her recent derogatory comments against the Sikh Community.

The FIR was filed by Amarjeet Singh Sandhu, a 47-year-old Mumbai-based businessman, along with leaders of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD).

Reportedly, she was booked under section 295A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The complainant is part of the delegation of the Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) who took the initiative of filing the FIR.

Kangana has been accused of making derogatory remarks against the Sikh community and thereby inciting violence in her recent post on Instagram.

The DSGMC delegation led by Manjinder Singh Sirsa, the president of this organization and also a leader of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), had met Dilip Walse Patil, the current Home Minister of Maharashtra, and top officials of the Mumbai Police after submitting the complaint.

They have demanded strict action be taken against the outspoken actress and that she must be punished under the law. The DSGMC mentioned in the complaint that she had deliberately defamed the farmers protest by portraying it as a "Khalistani Movement" and also termed the Sikh community as "Khalistani terrorists."

Notably, a few of them have also demanded a sedition case to be filed against her under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) for her irresponsible remarks.
