New Delhi: Former Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh turned 88 today. Leaders from across the political spectrum took to Twitter to wish him.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi taking to Twitter, said ''Birthday greetings to Dr Manmohan Singh Ji. I pray to Almighty that he is blessed with a long and health life''

Meanwhile, taking a jibe on PM Modi, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said, ''India feels the absence of a PM with the depth of Dr Manmohan Singh''

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also conveyed her wishes to the former Prime Minister on his birthday.

Delhi Chief Minister and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot also conveyed their best wishes to Singh

Other than being the Prime Minister of India and heading the UPA coalition government from 2004 to 2014, Dr Singh also played an important role in leading the country's economic reforms as the finance minister in the PV Narasimha Rao's government during the years 1991-1996.
