Gujarat Cop Kills Lover to Keep Away from Rs 25 Lakh Alimony

AHMEDABAD: The mysterious murder case of Vadodara-based Sweety Patel was finally solved when Ahmedabad City Police Crime Branch reveled that she was killed by her boyfriend and a police inspector, Ajay Desai.

Premvir Singh, Additional Police Commissioner (ACP) of Ahmedabad City Police Crime Branch, while addressing the press, said, "Sweety Patel was in a live-in relationship with Vadodara (Rural) police inspector, Ajay Desai. She was choked to death by Ajay Desai on June 4."

"Desai on June 5 took Sweety's dead body in his Jeep Compass car and burnt it in unused property of Kiritsinh Jadeja of Atali village," Premvir Singh added.

According to reports, Police inspector Ajay Desai refused to raise Rs 25 lakh to divorce his wife and, according to the defendant's confessions, killed his partner, Sweety Patel.

The investigator said that even after Desai married the woman from his ward, he stayed with Patel. "Desai says he was living in a temple with Patel in 2017. But she wanted the marriage to be legalized," he said. "Desai says he explained to Patel the cost of divorcing his ward's wife."

Patel went missing on June 5, an investigation began, and eventually the Criminal Police Department and ATS took over the case and arrested Desai.
