Gurugram: A 21-year-old woman was allegedly raped in between October 21-27 at ICU unit of Fortis Hospital in Gurugram. The woman was undergoing treatment for tuberculosis.
The patient wrote about the alleged sexual assault on her in a note and gave it to her father on October 27, after she regained consciousness after six days. The woman who was admitted to the hospital on October 21 was placed on a ventilator. She also named the accused, identified as Vikas. The accused is said to be working at the hospital.
The family demanded that the medical check-up be conducted at a government hospital.
"We are probing the assault case and trying to find out if Vikas worked at the hospital. The woman's parents aren't aware of it. We will get clarity on the case once we receive a statement from the patient. In the meanwhile, we are probing the CCTV footage to get clues", police officer Maksood Ahmad was quoted by media reports.
Six days after being admitted to the hospital, the woman alleged that she has been violated on the day of admission. After she complained, we immediately informed the police. We at Fortis follow a zero-tolerance policy in such situation and are fully cooperating with the police and extending support including CCTV footage", a Fortis Hospital spokesperson told media.
