Hundreds of Tourist Without Masks Flouts COVID Norms in Mussoorie's Kempty Falls

Tourists rushed to Uttarakhand's major tourist spots, Mussoorie and Nainital, when Covid-19 restrictions were relaxed, in a situation reminiscent of Himachal Pradesh. Hotels were packed, and there were lengthy lines of cars on the streets as people fled to the hills to escape the heat of the lowlands.

Meanwhile, a video of hundreds of visitors swimming at Mussoorie's Kempty Falls appeared on the internet on Wednesday and quickly went popular on social media. As people congregated at the renowned tourist site, social distance was plainly thrown out the window. Not a single individual was seen wearing a mask.

A short clip of of the incident, shared by a handle called Infobug on Twitter, made rounds on the internet. 

Several people were enraged when the video went viral. People flouting Covid-19 standards enraged social media users.  Kuldi Bazar and Mall Road in Mussoorie are frequently busy. Nainital had a similar problem as a result of an increase in the number of tourists.

Apart from Uttarakhand, more than five lakh visitors came to Himachal Pradesh when the Covid regulations were eased.

According to the Union Health Ministry's dashboard, India registered 45,892 new cases of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) and 817 new fatalities on Thursday. With this, the country's overall Covid-19 infection count increased to 3,07,09,557, and the total death toll increased to 405,028.

According to health ministry data, the number of active cases increased to 46,07,04, or 1.50 percent of all cases, while the total number of recoveries was at 29,843,825, with 44,291 people released in the past 24 hours. The prior day's total number of tests was 19,07,216.

The weekly positivity rate in the country decreased to 2.37 percent, while the daily positivity rate was 2.42 percent, both fewer than 3 percent for the 17th straight day, according to the health ministry. The testing capacity was increased, and as many as 42.52 crore tests have been performed thus far, according to the government.

Meanwhile, the total number of Covid-19 vaccines has reached 36,48,47,549, with 33,81,671 people inoculated on Wednesday.
