NEW DELHI: After the loss of the Indian Team in several matches in the ongoing tournament World Cup Indian Cricket Captain, Viral Kohli got trolled on social media and received a rape threat for his 10-month-old daughter.
Meanwhile, the cricketer's manager filed a complaint against the unknown person who posted a rape threat to Kohli's daughter on social media. The Delhi Commission of Women had also sent a notice to the Delhi Police regarding such a threat against the infant child.
On Wednesday 10 November Police arrested the Man from in the southern city of Hyderabad. The accused person was identified as 23 years old man who is an engineer by profession and is a resident of Hyderabad.
As per sources, the man changed his name on Twitter showing himself as a resident of Pakistan after the screenshots of his post went viral on social media. But later the website of Indian fact-checking identified him as an Indian.
The Mumbai Police has initiated an investigation on various Twitter handles involved in making disparaging statements against cricketers after the loss of the Indian Team in the T20 World Cup. And following this ongoing investigation, they arrested this man who had posted a treat to Kohli's daughter.
The Indian cricket team has faced numerous online abuses after losing matches in T20 World Cup has people started expressing their anger over the first time lost with Pakistan in World Cup. Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami was trolled and abused online soon after the end of the match against Pakistan. Users in social media accused him of deliberately providing runs to the Pakistani team and declared him a traitor.
Virat Kohli became the target of trolling after he spoke for Shami by saying "spineless people" on social media for attacking Shami over his religion. His support to Shami doesn't seem good for fans as they started trolling Virat with angry messages sending him and his wife, Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma.
