GUWAHATI: Guwahati is slated to host a BWF Super 100 event, and India will host two additional international badminton competitions this year. Kerala is to host a youth international competition. The Odisha Open is scheduled to run from December 12 to 17, while the Guwahati event will take place from December 5 to 10.
Sanjay Mishra, secretary of the Badminton Association of India (BAI), said this during the news conference held on Monday before the India Open: "I am grateful to BWF for allocating a new super 100 competition in Guwahati from December 5th, aside from the other events."
Another junior international will be held in Kerala, and we have also approached them about hosting it. "Our goal is to have as many tournaments as possible held in India so that our peripheral players can gain as much as possible." In September of last year, India served as the host country for both the Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra international challenges.
The India Open, which serves as the nation's premier event, was promoted to Super 750 starting this year. Before the 2017–18 season, it was a Super 500 race. Along with these events, India also conducts two junior international competitions in Pune and Hyderabad as well as the Syed Modi Foreign Super 300, and Odisha Super 100, and international challengers in Bengaluru and Raipur.
