NEW DELHI: On Thursday 20 January the central government issued revised guidelines for International arrivals that stated from now onwards i.e. from Saturday 22 January the foreign arrivals from different countries into India will not be mandatorily managed with isolation facilities even if the travelers are detected as COVID-19 positive.
The revised guidelines imposed news rules and regulations on all international travels in view of the surge in covid cases across the country and worldwide.
The authorities further informed that those who tested positive will have to quarantine themselves at their respective homes according to the covid protocols.
All travelers from outside the country will have to undergo 7 days home quarantine even on being tested negative for COVID-19 and on the eight-day of their arrival in India they have to undertake the test of RT-PCR.
The new guidelines will be effective in the country from today onwards i.e. from Saturday 22 January as informed by the government.
According to the government, earlier the travelers coming to India from any other country were provided with an isolation facility including those at risk and they also received treatments as per the standard protocols.
The recently revised guideline by the government has removed the clause that stated staying in an isolation facility upon arrival was mandatory.
However, the government further informed that during the screening those travelers found to be carrying any covid symptoms will be taken for immediate isolation and will also be provided with medical facilities including all needed treatment.
The government also added that if the travelers are found infected with the virus after undergoing a test then their contacts will be identified and informed as per the covid norms for further management purposes.
Meanwhile as per the tally on Friday, the state of Maharashtra reported a total of 48,270 fresh covid positive cases, Haryana reported a total of 9655 cases, Tamil Nadu reported a total of 29,870 and the state Gujarat reported 21,225 COVID-19 infected cases.
