NEW DELHI: In a shocking incident, a 30 years old woman from the Netherlands was reportedly raped by a man in Jaipur of Rajasthan under the pretext of providing massage.
The incident took place on Wednesday 16 March in the area near Sindhi Camp, an inter-state bus terminal of Jaipur city.
The accused has been identified as Bijju Mulridharan, a resident of the Vidhyadhar Nagar area.
According to official reports, a Dutch tourist came to Rajasthan with a group of friends to enjoy the celebration of the Holi festival in India.
The group of foreign nationals came to India about 5 days ago and was staying in paying guests (PG) located in the Sindhi Camp locality.
As per the police statement during the evening hours on Wednesday, the Dutch woman called a young man in the hotel room to give her an Ayurvedic massage and taking advantage of the situation the accused man forced himself on the woman.
He started touching her private parts during the massage. The woman then started protesting and tried to stop the accused but he immediately ran away from the spot.
On Thursday 17 March the victim woman filed a complaint at the nearby police station of Sindhi Camp police station.
Based on the complaint registered, the Rajasthan police teams have arrested the accused man who allegedly raped the woman from the Netherlands who visited India as a tourist.
On Friday 18 March police arrested the accused from the Vidhyadhar Nagar area of Jaipur while he was trying to escape after committing the heinous crime.
According to the officials, the accused was all set to leave the city but he was caught. He is arrested under section 376 of the Indian Penal Code after the medical examination of the victim was done.
Meanwhile, the accused is interrogated by officials and other information about the incident including the victim's identity is not yet revealed.
