JODHPUR (RAJASTHAN): Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked a significant day for Rajasthan on Thursday as he laid the foundation stone and inaugurated a multitude of development projects with an estimated combined value of approximately Rs 5,000 crore in the city of Jodhpur.
During his visit, PM Modi also flagged off two brand-new train services in Rajasthan, enhancing the state's connectivity. The first, known as the "Runicha Express," establishes a direct link between Jaisalmer and Delhi, offering commuters an efficient mode of transportation. The second, a heritage train, connects Marwar Junction to Khambli Ghat, adding a touch of nostalgia to the region's railway network.
In addition to these railway initiatives, Prime Minister Modi dedicated two vital rail projects to the nation. The first focuses on the expansion and doubling of the 'Degana-Rai Ka Bagh' rail line, spanning a length of 145 kilometers. The second project pertains to the development of the 'Degana-Kuchaman City' rail line, covering a distance of 58 kilometers.
The array of projects inaugurated by the Prime Minister includes the establishment of a 350-bed 'Trauma Centre and Critical Care Hospital Block' at the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Jodhpur. Furthermore, seven 'Critical Care Blocks' have been initiated under the Pradhan Mantri - Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM) to enhance healthcare infrastructure across Rajasthan.
Notably, PM Modi laid the foundation stone for the construction of a state-of-the-art 'New Terminal Building' at Jodhpur Airport, with a total estimated cost of Rs 480 crore.
In the field of education, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jodhpur campus was dedicated to the nation. This cutting-edge campus has been constructed at a significant investment of over Rs 1,135 crore.
Focusing on educational infrastructure, the Prime Minister also initiated the development of the Central University of Rajasthan. This included the introduction of a 'Central Instrumentation Laboratory,' staff quarters, and a 'Yoga & Sports Sciences Building.' Additionally, he laid the foundation stone for the construction of a 'Central Library,' a 600-capacity hostel, and a dining facility for students at the Central University of Rajasthan.
The Prime Minister also initiated several road development projects, with a cumulative expenditure of approximately Rs 1,475 crore. The Jodhpur Ring Road project, among others, is expected to alleviate traffic congestion and reduce vehicular pollution within the city.
