KERELA: Vadakara cooperative hospital in Kerala's Kozhikode district issued an apology after facing backlash for using the picture of Oscar-winning actor Morgan Freeman in an advertisement designed to promote the hospital's skincare treatment facilities.

Many people criticized the poster, which was advertising Vadakara cooperative hospital, for being "racist and uneducated."

Film critic GP Ramachandran wrote in a post that "The Vadakara cooperative hospital is an affront and dishonor to Kerala's excellent cooperative sector." It's also an affront to Vadakara locals' racial awareness and Keralities' worldview.

Meanwhile, the Vadakara Co-operative Hospital Board apologized for the error in a press release. "The picture on the billboard of Vadakara Co-operative Hospital's dermatology department is an inadvertent mistake," it added. The board was taken down, and we took action as soon as it was brought to our attention. The billboard image has been a hot issue on social media, and we sincerely apologize if it has caused anyone any harm.
