MUMBAI: 33 passengers were on board the bus, which was travelling from Nagpur to Pune, when it hit a pole and caught fire, according to the police. Early on Saturday morning in Maharashtra, the bus carrying at least 33 people crashed into a pole and caught fire, killing at least 25 people and injuring eight more.

The event allegedly occurred at around two in the morning when the bus driver lost control of it, according to the police. The driver, who survived the collision, is being investigated by the police, who believe he may have dozed off behind the wheel.

A police official claimed that because of the beds inside the sleeper bus, it immediately caught fire. In the meantime, the state government offered Rs 5 lakh in compensation to the victims' families. The accident site will be visited by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at Buldhana.

Ajit Pawar, the leader of the opposition and the NCP, expressed his sympathies to the families of the victims and claimed that incidents had been occurring on the Samruddhi motorway ever since it opened.

Taking on twitter, PMO offered condolence, “Deeply saddened by the devastating bus mishap in Buldhana, Maharashtra. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of those who lost their lives. May the injured recover soon. The local administration is providing all possible assistance to the affected.”

It further stated that, “An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of those who lost their lives in the bus mishap in Buldhana. Rs. 50,000 would be given to the injured.”

On June 28, four people lost their life and one person was gravely injured in a tragic occurrence that occurred close to Shalun Kaichi in the Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh. The Alto car carrying the victims drove off the Bhadrash Rohru connecting road and crashed into a ditch about 500 metres below as it was returning from a wedding ceremony. Two young men, two young women, and a small girl were all involved in the tragedy, and all unfortunately passed away at the spot.
