Bengaluru: A 2-year-old child was rescued after she was found as the sole survivor of what is suspected to be a mass suicide case. The girl child was found alive by her grandfather amid the decomposed bodies of other members of the family.
Police officer Sanjiv M Patil informed, "We found out that there were five bodies inside the house. A baby was found alive…. we don't know the reason behind the deaths. We have rescued the child."
The police officer that by the time the bodies were discovered they had already started to decompose.
As per the information given by the police, the child's grandfather, H Shankar, returned to the house five days after he had left in a fit to anger. The man was involved in an argument with her daughter who had returned from her in-laws to live with her parents. The man returned out of concern after nobody in the family had received any of his calls
Upon his return, he found that his wife, 27-year-old son and two daughters in their late thirties had hung themselves by the ceiling wall. The body of a nine-month-old baby was also found. Allegedly, the baby had died due to starvation.
The two-year-old child has been sent to the hospital to undergo a medical examination.
Further investigations on this case are still underway.
