Minor Girl From Delhi Raped In Gurgaon; Landlord's Relative Arrested

NEW DELHI: A 13-year-old girl of North Delhi's Narela area was raped and then killed allegedly by a relative of her landlord at Gurgaon recently, police said on Tuesday.

As per the police, the landlord's relative identified as Praveen Verma was arrested based on a complaint made by the deceased girl's father. He (the girl's father) had made a PCR call when the accused allegedly tried forcing the family for cremating the dead body.

The girl's father, who has lodged an FIR, said his landlord's wife took his daughter to her brother's home in Gurgaon on July 17 after saying her sister-in-law has given birth to a child and that his daughter could stay there for some days and enjoy there by playing with the daughter of her brother. On the afternoon of August 23, the landlord informed him that his daughter died. On the same evening, the landlord with his family members took the body in an ambulance to their (the girl's) house at Narela and insisted them to cremate her, the girl's father alleged.

The girl's father said he grew suspicious and made a PCR call following which a team of cops from Narela police station reached their house and took the body to a hospital in Jahangirpuri. He also alleged that his daughter had been killed by the landlord's relative (who is the landlady's brother Praveen Verma) with the help of a few other people.

As per reports, a case was registered by the Gurgaon police under Sections 302 (murder) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code and SC/ST Act. Post-mortem report of the deceased girl, who belonged from the Dalit community, confirmed sexual assault. Verma was thereafter arrested by the police.
