New Delhi: In the wake of Shab-e-Barat and Holi are falling on the same day, the Muslim society has changed the timing of Friday prayers.
According to reports, in Uttar Pradesh's (UP) Lucknow, at least 22 mosques have changed the timings of Friday prayers keeping Holi celebrations in mind.
In this regard, a few days back, Sunni Maulana Khalid Rashid Farangi Mahali of the Islamic Center of India had issued a notification for Muslims.
Reports claimed that the timings of the prayer in mosques have been increased from half an hour to an hour. Normally Friday prayers and Khutbah are read at 12:30 pm, but this time due to Holi, in most mosques, prayers will be offered after 1:30 pm.
Along with this, an appeal has been made to Muslims to offer prayers in the mosques of their neighborhood. It has also been appealed to prevent any untoward incident and maintain peace on the day of Holi.
The Islamic Center of India had submitted a suggestion to change the timing of Namaz, which was implemented after discussion.
The 22 mosques in which the timings of prayers have been changed include Jama Masjid at Aishbagh Idgah, a Minar Masjid at Akbari Gate and Masjid Shahmina Shah at Masjid Chowk.
Reportedly, today's prayers will be held at 1:30 in these mosques. At the same time, Namaz will be offered at Jama Masjid at 2.00 pm. Similarly, Friday prayers in Masjid Shahmina Shah will be held at 1:30 instead of 1:00.
