MUMBAI: Two bike-borne miscreants allegedly opened fire in Mumbai's Kandivli area. As a result of the shooting one person died and three other people were injured.

Reportedly, a fallout of personal enmity has been identified as the reason behind the incident. The incident happened around 11.30 pm Friday night at Lalkopara on Link Road.

"Around 12.15 am we received information a firing incident has occurred in the jurisdiction of Kandivli police station. The assailants came on two bikes and opened fire on a few people in which one person died while three others received minor injuries and further investigation is underway," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) zone 11 Vishal Thakur.

The deceased has been identified as one Ankit Yadav (26). According to reports, he was bleeding too much and couldn't be saved even after authorities rushed him to a nearby hospital. The three other injured victims are Abhinash Dabholkar, Manish Gupta, and Prakash Narayan.

According to police reports, Sonu Paswan, who is the prime accused in the case, knew the victim well. Both the accused and the victim were part of separate Dahi Handi mandals. The police also stated that the two groups got into a conflict over breaking one particular Dahi Handi from their area.

The Police registered a case under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) section 302 (murder) and others, as well as the Arms Act.

However, the police are yet to arrest the accused person.

In similar events, two bike-borne men opened fire and killed one person on the NH-28 and NH-31 in Bihar's Begusarai. 9 other people were injured in the shooting.

Following the incident, checkpoints were set up across the district and police conducted raids to arrest the culprit.

CCTV cameras existing in the area identified the two culprits. The deceased who was shot dead (31) was identified as one Chandan Kumar (31).
