Mumbai: Just days after the Mumbai Police received a 26/11-like terrorist attack, the Lalit hotel in the financial capital on Tuesday received a bomb threat call and also sought a ransom of Rs 5 crore.

As per the Mumbai Police, an unidentified person called the hotel and said that bombs have been kept at four places in the hotel and also demanded Rs 5 crore to defuse them.

The police also said that following the threat, a case has been registered at the Sahar Airport Police Station under section 336, 507 of IPC.

However, after searching the hotel no bombs were found inside. Later, the police confirmed the call was a 'bomb hoax call'.

Recently, the Mumbai Police received a threat message on WhatsApp from a Pakistani number that gave a warning of a terrorist attack on the lines of the 26/11 Mumbai attack.

The messages that were sent to the Mumbai traffic police's helpline number were sent from a Pakistani number.

The sender warned that the attack would be executed soon in Mumbai city to revive the memories of the 26/11 terror attacks in 2008.

Even though the Mumbai police have ruled out the potential threat of attack, they have now begun an investigation on the matter and are trying to trace the sender.

According to police, the sender stated in the WhatsApp messages sent to the Mumbai traffic police that he is from Pakistan and an attack will be carried out in Mumbai.

The person said that he is from Pakistan and that there are a few in India who are helping him to carry out the attack. He also shared some mobile numbers and warned that the attack could be carried out akin to the Sidhu Moosewala murder or the Udaipur tailor killing this year.

"We are probing the origin of the threat messages. We will soon trace the sender. We are also taking all necessary precautions in the city in view of the threat message," said a police officer.

Notably, the messages came after two days when a boat laden with AK-47 guns and ammunition was found off the Raigad coast of Maharashtra.

One of India's most horrific terrorist attacks took place on November 26, 2008 when ten terrorists wreaked havoc across Mumbai killing over 150 people and injuring 300.
