Mumbai Murder Case: Housing Society Sanitized After Discovery of Victim's Body Parts

MUMBAI: The Akashdeep building located in Mumbai's Mira Road recently became the center of a gruesome incident when the remains of Saraswati Vaidya's cooked body parts were discovered. The incident led to the arrest of her live-in partner, Manoj Sane, on charges of killing her. Despite the removal of all body parts and Sane's arrest, the foul smell continued to persist, prompting the authorities to sanitize the entire building on Saturday.

Saraswati Vaidya and Manoj Sane had been residing in a 2 bedroom apartment on the 7th floor of the building. The couple was known for being reclusive, and their immediate neighbors on the same floor had limited knowledge about them, despite their presence in the building for several years.

The abominable smell, which permeated throughout the housing society, raised suspicions among the residents of neighboring flats, who believed it was emanating from Manoj Sane's apartment. Concerned, they attempted to contact Sane by knocking on his door, but received no response. Additionally, they noticed the smell of room freshener, which seemed to mask the underlying foul odor originating from Sane's flat. The residents promptly notified the police, who, upon arrival, were compelled to forcibly enter the apartment.

Inside, the police discovered the horrifying scene: body parts of the victim were found stored in various utensils, with the victim's feet left in the kitchen, seemingly prepared for boiling. The shocking discovery confirmed the suspicions and painted a gruesome picture of the crime that had taken place.

In the aftermath of this horrific incident, the entire complex underwent a thorough sanitization process. Despite the removal of the body parts, the foul smell had lingered, causing considerable distress among the residents. The management of the society, led by Pratap Aswal, the secretary, recognized the need for stringent measures to prevent such incidents in the future.

As a result, the society's management decided to implement strict verification procedures for prospective tenants, including thorough background checks to ensure their identity and history. This step aimed to prevent the entry of individuals with dubious backgrounds or potential criminal tendencies. The shocking revelation that the neighbors were completely unaware of Manoj Sane and Saraswati Vaishya's marital status underlined the necessity for such precautions.
