Patna: At a time when the communal harmony in the country is in shambles, a Muslim family hailing from Bihar has made a staggering donation of land worth a whopping Rs 2.5 crores for the construction of the World's largest Hindu temple - Virat Ramayan Mandir - in the Kaithwalia area of East Champaran district in the state, thereby setting an example of communal harmony.

Acharya Kishore Kunal, the chief of the Patna-based Mahavir Mandir Trust, that has undertaken the project, while talking to reporters on March 21, has said Ahmad Khan, a Guwahati based businessman hailing from East Champaran district, has made this generous donation.

"He recently completed all formalities pertaining to the donation of land belonging to his family for the construction of the temple at the registrar office of the Kesharia sub-division (East Chanmparan)," Kunal, a former Indian Police Service officer, told reporters.

The chief of Mahavir Mandir Trust has said that Khan's gesture sets a perfect example of social harmony and brotherhood between two communities. He added that it would have been difficult to realize this dream project without the support of Muslims.

125 acres of land has been obtained by the Mahavir Mandir Trust so far for the construction of this temple and another 25 acres of land will soon be obtained by the trust in the area.

The height of the Virat Ramayan Mandir will exceed the height of the world-famous 12th century Angkor Wat complex in Cambodia, which is 215 feet high. The complex which will be located in the East Champaran district will comprise 18 temples with high spires and its Shiv temple will have the world's largest Shivling.

The total cost of constructing this gigantic structure is estimated to be around Rs. 500 crore. The trust will soon consult the experts engaged in the construction of the new parliament building in New Delhi.
