NEW DELHI: The first Vande Bharat Express of the state of Rajasthan will be flagged off on Wednesday by the Prime Minister of the country. This train has been scheduled to ply between the Dehli Cantonment and the Jaipur stations.

Regular services for this Vande Bharat Express will begin on Thursday. It will operate between the Delhi Cantonment and Ajmer stations with scheduled stoppages at Jaipur, Alwar and Gurgaon. The journey will take a total of 5 hours and 15 minutes, which is an hour less compared to the Shatabdi Express which is currently the fastest train running on this route and takes 6 hours and 15 minutes to complete the same journey.

The Vande Bharat Express on the Ajmer - Delhi Cantonment route will also be the world’s first semi-high-speed passenger train to run on a high-rise overhead electric territory. And it is aimed to improve the connectivity between some of the major tourist destinations of the region of Rajasthan. These will include Jaipur, Pushkar and Ajmer Sharif Dargah. While boosting the whole tourism sector in terms of destinations, this new train will also enable tourists to cover more regions as the travel time will decrease and the frequency of trains will increase.

This new Vande Bharat Express has been allocated train number 20978. The price for the whole journey from Delhi Cant to Ajmer is Rs 1250 including catering costs of Rs 308 and Rs 2270 including Rs 369 for chair car and executive car respectively. Multiple options of food will be provided to the passengers and they can even opt out of the catering services if they wish to do so.

For the return journey, train number 20977 has been issued. For the chair car category, the cost is Rs 1085 including catering costs of Rs 142 and Rs 2075 for the executive car which includes catering costs of Rs 175.
