NEW DELHI: In a significant development, oil companies have implemented a substantial increase in the prices of 19kg commercial LPG cylinders, impacting consumers in major Indian cities. The price adjustment, which came into effect on November 1, has raised concerns among commercial users, as they now face higher costs for their energy needs.

The capital city of Delhi now witnesses a 19kg commercial LPG cylinder costing Rs 1,833, reflecting the new rate after an increase of Rs 101.50. Among the four major metropolitan areas, Mumbai stands as the most economically favorable, with a 19kg commercial LPG cylinder priced at Rs 1,785.50. Conversely, Chennai is on the other end of the spectrum with the highest price at Rs 1,999.50, while Kolkata falls in between at Rs 1,943.

It's crucial to note that these price adjustments specifically pertain to 19kg commercial cylinders, with no impact on domestic LPG cylinder prices. The rates for domestic LPG cylinders remain stable, providing some relief to households.

In Delhi, the price of a domestic LPG cylinder remains at Rs 903, while Kolkata offers the 14kg domestic cylinder at Rs 929. Mumbai residents can acquire a domestic LPG cylinder for Rs 902.5, and Chennai's price stands at Rs 918.5, providing consumers with predictability in their monthly budgets.

Interestingly, this recent hike in commercial LPG gas cylinder prices follows another substantial increase on October 1 when prices surged by Rs 209 for the 19kg cylinder. In October, the retail selling price of commercial LPG cylinders in Delhi increased from Rs 1,731.50 to the current Rs 1,833, which adds to the concerns of commercial users who are already grappling with rising costs. Throughout this period, domestic cylinder prices remained unaffected, offering some respite to households.

Notably, commercial LPG cylinders saw a price reduction in September when oil marketing companies lowered the cost by Rs 157. Following this adjustment, the 19kg commercial cylinder was priced at Rs 1,522.50 in Delhi and Rs 1,636 in Kolkata. August also witnessed a price reduction of Rs 100 for commercial LPG gas cylinders, indicating a fluctuating trend in prices that has impacted businesses and industries reliant on commercial LPG.

The fluctuation in commercial LPG cylinder prices underscores the need for consumers and businesses to closely monitor energy costs and adapt their budgets accordingly. It also highlights the complex dynamics of energy pricing in a rapidly changing economic environment.
