Newly Wed Couple Attacked By Girl's Father over Inter-Caste Marriage in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: A shocking incident has come to light in Hyderabad after a father hacked a couple on the Erragadda main road in Hyderabad on Wednesday afternoon.

As per a media report, the incident was caught on CCTV clearly shows that the person had hacked and injured his daughter and son-in-law on the main road.

Reportedly, this has been the second such incident in the area since the past few days.

It is to be noted that a few days back killing of a Dalit youth Pranay in Miryalaguda, sent shock waves through the city. Pranay was hacked to death by a hired killer for marrying an upper caste girl.

Similarly, on Wednesday, Manohar Chary, a goldsmith, attacked his daughter Madhavi and her husband. Madhavi is in a critical condition while her husband B. Sandeep (21) is safe but severely injured.

The woman is being treated at Yashoda Hospital in Somajiguda and Sandeep at a private hospital in Sanathnagar.

Sandeep, a Dalit, married Madhavi belonging to a BC community last week at a temple in Alwal.

Speaking to media, Sandeep's family said, "We accepted the marriage but Madhavi's family opposed to it."

The incident was caught on CCTV cameras installed at a car showroom on Erragadda main road.

The disturbing clip shows the father, wearing a helmet, getting off the bike before drawing a sickle. He first attacked Sandeep and when Madhavi came to her husband's defence, he hacks her thrice. The injured woman started bleeding copiously and collapsed on the spot.

One man tried to kick down the attacker but failed.
